YEF Seattle Leader’s Christmas Reflection: Christ, the Light of the World

Christmas is a time to open our hearts to God and his gifts, just like the rest of the year. This is the message we are meditating on during the Opening Service and today’s message at the Christmas Retreat today.

On December 24, 2020, the Christmas Retreat event was held by the Olivet Assembly USA. The theme for this retreat is Christ, the Light of the World. It is to reflect on the things Jesus Christ has done for us and how His love enlightened us to our spirit.

During the Opening Service, Pastor John talked about having the spiritual enlightenment through Jesus’ words and how important it is to listen to His words because it aligns our hearts with God’s. Then, we proceeded to the first Bible study of the retreat. Pastor Stacey presented the message of Matthew 5:3. The message reflected on how God uses his almighty power to bless the people who are “poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those hungry for righteousness, and the merciful” and why we should not be arrogant towards God despite having God already entered in our lives.

It is important to recognize that this is a special day for Christ and we get to celebrate his sacrifice and love with pride and abundance. So let us meditate on the message that God gave us today as a reminder for everything He had done for us.

“You can give a great and wonderful Christmas if you remember the gifts God has given you and, as best you can, offer them to others as He would.” (Henry B. Eyring).
