YEF Ethiopia Hosts Easter Retreat with Members

On April 12, 2025, the Easter retreat held by YEF Ethiopia began with deep prayers and with uplifting worship songs led by one of the YEF members. At a later time, participants entered into the powerful themes of John 13:1-5, guided by a sermon that revealed important insights into Jesus’ humility and love.

The sermon was led by YEF Ethiopia member Brother Selemon’s explanation of Jesus’s perfect timing, as the sermon emphasized the significance of the moment “before the Feast of the Passover.” Drawing parallels to the deliverance of Israel, attendees were reminded of Jesus’s ultimate role as the Passover Lamb, whose sacrifice brings redemption to humanity. Participants reflected on God’s timing in their lives and how to align with His will during trials.

In a segment focusing on the depth of Jesus’ love, the retreat explored the phrase, “He loved them to the end,” emphasizing the eternal and unchanging nature of His love. Attendees were challenged to examine their relationships and extend grace despite imperfections.

The sermon also addressed the evil doing of Judas’ betrayal, emphasizing Jesus’ response of love and forgiveness even in the face of betrayal. This causes many to reflect on their responses to those who hurt them, striving to practice Christ-like love.

Finally, the minister’s call to embrace cleansing and sanctification encouraged attendees to seek God’s grace and renewal regularly. Practical lessons emphasized humility, love, and an eternal perspective, with a call to live purpose-driven lives aligned with God’s will.

Reflections from the Retreat
Brother Samuel shared, “This retreat reminded me of how intentional Jesus was with His love and actions. It challenged me to show the same intentionality in my relationships, especially in forgiving those who’ve wronged me.”

Sister Eden expressed, “The act of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet deeply touched me. It showed me how powerful humility and service can be, and I feel inspired to live out that example in my daily life.”

The retreat concluded with the members’ fellowship and prayers, as participants were left empowered to reflect Christ’s love and humility in their daily lives.
