Rediscovering Mission and Love: A Graceful Ending to Three Day YEF 2025 Easter Retreat

On Easter Sunday, the final day of the YEF 2025 Easter Retreat, attendees were deeply moved by a powerful sermon delivered by Pastor Danielle White. With clarity and heartfelt conviction, Pastor Danielle illuminated the path of faith, drawing from Scripture to guide the congregation in rediscovering the mission that God places upon every believer.

Using the story of the disciples and their empty nets, she painted a vivid metaphor: how easy it is to lose sight of one’s divine calling amidst the routine of life. But just as Jesus directed the disciples where to cast their nets and filled them to overflowing, Pastor Danielle reminded listeners that when we follow the Lord’s direction, our lives become full of purpose once again.

Central to her message was the theme of love, love for Christ, for one another, and the Church. She turned to the post-resurrection scene at the Sea of Galilee, where Jesus broke bread with His disciples. This moment, tender and intimate, exemplified the significance of table fellowship in the Christian community. Love, expressed through sharing and communion, remains a cornerstone of life in the Church.

Pastor Danielle delved into the biblical concept of love through the lens of the original Greek language. She distinguished between philea, the love of deep friendship, and agape, the highest form of unconditional love. In the exchange between Jesus and Peter, where Jesus asked three times, “Do you love me?”. Peter’s transformation was highlighted. Initially, Peter responded with philea love, but by the third time, he echoed Jesus’ agape love. It was in this moment of understanding and surrender that Jesus entrusted him with the words, “Take care of my sheep.”

This profound exchange underscored the sacred call to shepherd others, a call that is not merely about leadership but about love, sacrifice, and devotion. Pastor Danielle reminded everyone that to follow Jesus is to walk a path of both great love and great cost. As Peter’s own life would ultimately testify, ending in martyrdom for the sake of the Gospel, true discipleship demands everything, yet gives far more in return.

The Easter Sunday service came to a close with a warm benediction and heartfelt closing remarks from Pastor Danielle. A fellowship lunch, graciously provided and hosted by the local golf club, followed. Over shared meals and laughter, attendees reflected on the powerful message and their personal journeys of faith.

To finish off the retreat, the group visited New Smyrna Beach, allowing time for quiet reflection, connection, and gratitude. It was a serene conclusion to a weekend filled with spiritual renewal, deep teaching, and the rekindling of mission and love.
