On May 22, the Pentecost Retreat in Branson, Missouri, continued with Bible Study II as Pastor Anthony shared a message from John 16 centered on the work of the Holy Spirit and the victory of Jesus Christ. YEF members together with Bible study students participated in the joint Pentecost Retreat, gathering in worship, fellowship, prayer, and the study of God’s Word during this meaningful time of spiritual renewal.
Through the study, members and students reflected on Jesus’ words, “It is for your good that I am going away,” and learned why the coming of the Holy Spirit was essential for believers to live by faith and understand the truth of God more deeply.
Focusing on John 16:7–11, Pastor Anthony explained how the Holy Spirit convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment. The message emphasized that the greatest sin is unbelief in Christ, while true righteousness is revealed through Jesus returning to the Father after accomplishing salvation through the cross. Members were also reminded that although believers continue living in a fallen world filled with struggles and spiritual battles, “the ruler of this world” has already been judged and defeated through Christ’s victory.
Continuing through John 16:13, the Bible study highlighted that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth who leads believers into all truth. Pastor Anthony explained that without the Holy Spirit, people cannot fully understand the Word of God or spiritual reality. Reflecting on the disciples’ confession in verses 29–30, members and Bible students were encouraged to move beyond outward belief and grow into genuine trust in Jesus Christ as the One sent from God.
The message concluded with reflection on John 16:33, where Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Members were encouraged not to fear suffering, difficulties, or spiritual opposition, but instead to hold firmly to the peace found in Christ and continue walking by faith through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Bible study ended with prayer for all retreat participants to continue abiding in Christ, growing in truth through the Holy Spirit, and living victoriously in the midst of the world through faith in Jesus Christ.
