On May 23rd, YEF Orlando hosted its Pentecost Retreat at the YEF Headquarters in Sanford, Florida. The two-day retreat focused on teaching, worship, fellowship, and reflection on the work of the Holy Spirit, with Day 1 centered on scripture-based instruction, shared experiences, and spiritual growth.
The day opened with a service led by YEF Orlando, beginning with worship, prayer, and preparation for the sessions ahead. The opening message was taught by Pastor Danielle White, who emphasized heart transformation, surrender to God, and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers from Acts 2.
After the opening service, participants were led into Bible study I, which focused on “The Age of the Holy Spirit” and was delivered by Pastor Daija, focusing on John 14:25-31. This session explored the significance of Pentecost in Acts 2 as well, explaining the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, its fulfillment of prophecy, and its ongoing role in empowering believers today. The teaching highlighted how the Holy Spirit equips the church, distributes spiritual gifts, and enables believers to live with boldness and spiritual conviction.
Bible study II, based on Romans 8:26-27, was led by Pastor Rani, focusing on the Holy Spirit’s role in prayer and intercession, especially in moments of weakness. This session emphasized that the Holy Spirit helps believers pray according to God’s will and strengthens them when they do not have the words to pray on their own.
After the studies, participants were encouraged to reflect on the messages and share the grace received. Afterward, a lunch fellowship was held where they continued ruminating on the messages and also shared in fun, Christian icebreaker games, which helped further reflection on the messages. This time then transitioned into activity in which they broke up into teams and played trivia games based on the Word and the Holy Spirit’s coming.
Later, Pastor Danielle White returned to lead the third Bible study on Acts 2:42-47, continuing the theme of the Holy Spirit’s work in the believer’s life, reinforcing empowerment, guidance, and spiritual maturity within the church community.
Throughout the day, participants including newcomer, Angel, and committed member, Tamara Hollis, shared reflections in group discussions, expressing how the teachings impacted their understanding of the Holy Spirit. Many highlighted themes such as peace in weakness, spiritual empowerment, and the importance of experiencing the Holy Spirit as a daily presence rather than a one-time encounter. The retreat also included fellowship time, meals including lunch and dinner, and recreational activities such as charades, which helped strengthen relationships and create a joyful atmosphere of community.
The day concluded with a time of prayer and worship, as attendees gathered in gratitude for all that was received throughout the sessions. The retreat ended with a closing prayer asking for continued spiritual protection and growth for those who attended Day 1, that they would hold onto the grace they received and be strengthened in their faith. It was also prayed that those joining on the following day would encounter no distractions or interruptions, but would instead receive even more grace and revelation. A special prayer was lifted for Florida members, that they would be filled and renewed by the Holy Spirit during this retreat, and that the work begun in hearts would continue to grow in power, unity, and spiritual awakening.
