Youth Evangelical Fellowship International held the first of their mission training seminars and the participants were briefly introduced to the seven-day program and the topics that will be covered. The day one seminar consisted of the basic understanding of vision casting, sodality and modality, and talks on the purpose of the program and the overall role of YEF.
Looking at 1 Chronicles 4:9-10, the participants meditated upon the dream and heart of Jabez, how and why God answered so faithfully, and how it relates to world missions.
“Jabez called upon the God of Israel, saying, ‘Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from harm so that it might not bring me pain!” And God granted what he asked’ (1 Chronicles 4:9-10).
It is clear that Jabez firmly believed in the God of boundless blessings. He prays, ‘Bless me.’ And then he prays, ‘Please enlarge my border.’ Our church offered up this prayer, as well and our reach is expanding around the world. We had a dream of Psalm 133.
Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! (Psalm 133:1). When we dreamed this dream and prayed to expand our boundaries, He expanded our boundaries… Jacob also had a greater dream, than his brother so he received the birthright and the blessing for Isaac. He too was highly favored, we can see. Through this dream he’s having now, God showed him that he and his descendants will be the source of blessing for the whole world.”
So the leaders were encouraged to have a dream within themselves. A dream that comes from God and the desire to do His will. But what is better than dreaming is to have a vision. When one has a vision, they can more specifically know the goal, where they’re heading, and what that future looks like. YEF HQ prays that these lectures could be a great aid in understanding where to go and how to go forward.
After this, they talked about the importance of understanding how the parachurch works alongside the church as sodality and modality. They then watched a short clip of their assembly presentation from last year, showing the leaders how HQ operates and the leadership system currently being set in place, among other things as well. A total of nine leaders and intern leaders joined live, however around eleven leaders will join together within their regions to listen to the recorded message, discuss, and leave their reflections and questions for the HQ will go over and answer within the coming session.
