On the evening of December 20th, YEF China Qingdao Fellowship hosted a special Christmas event titled “The Christmas Manna Bread-Tasting.” A total of 24 participants gathered for an evening of celebration, reflection, and connection.
The event, officiated by Pastor Joel, included several meaningful activities that enriched the participants both spiritually and socially. Pastor Joel began the event by inviting everyone to introduce themselves. He then shared the story of manna bread—its biblical origins and the intention behind making and sharing it. This opening set a welcoming and reflective tone for the evening.
Four students celebrating their birthdays in December were honored with a special moment. Everyone joined in singing “Happy Birthday,” creating an atmosphere of joy and love. The students were visibly moved by this gesture, with some expressing surprise and gratitude.
The participants had the opportunity to taste the manna bread, which served as both a symbol of divine provision and a delicious treat. This moment was enjoyed by all and helped to bring the group closer together through shared appreciation.
The pastor then shared his personal journey of faith, coupled with the story of Christmas and its significance. Despite initial concerns about the strict rules regarding religious discussions in China, the Holy Spirit’s presence was felt throughout the event. The students listened attentively, and some were so inspired by his testimony that they reached out to connect further, adding Pastor Joel on WeChat to learn more about the Christian faith.
The evening concluded with a shared meal of roasted chicken, fostering a sense of community and warmth. Participants also wrote greetings and prayers on sticky notes, adding a personal and heartfelt element to the gathering.
This event was particularly significant because it exceeded the chapter’s initial expectations. Initially, the goal was to invite 12 participants, but through God’s grace, 24 individuals attended. Most attendees were invited by their classmates or had previously enjoyed the fellowship’s bread. Many came in groups from their dormitories, which added a sense of camaraderie to the evening.
The warm and harmonious atmosphere left a lasting impression on everyone. The heartfelt interactions, including the pastor’s hugs and the open sharing of faith, touched the hearts of the participants. All ministers who planned the event expressed gratitude for the Lord’s guidance throughout the event and prayed for the future of Qingdao Fellowship. The hope is not only for continued activities but also for growth in faith and service. The chapter aspires to see all 24 participants return to hear sermons and engage in fellowship regularly. Additionally, they pray for more ministers to join the service and for the manna bread-tasting tradition to continue, spreading God’s love through meaningful and delicious outreach.
This evening was a testament to God’s faithfulness and the power of community. The Qingdao Fellowship members give thanks for the opportunity to host this event and look forward to seeing how God will work in their midst in the days to come.
