YEF Ethiopia Member Started the 40 Days Walk by Meditating the Word of God

Here is his reflection on John 13:1

“When I meditate on ‘Jesus loved his disciples to the end,’ my heart is really touched because Jesus knows who betrays and denies him; however, he never hated them, but to the end, he loved all. When I relate to my life, to become a true disciple of Jesus I need to follow the path of Jesus, i have to carry the cross and deny myself to do so I need to seek the power Holy Spirit through prayer so that I can live the life of Jesus by reflecting true love like Jesus did it.

We all may wonder like Peter, we even not allow Jesus to wash our feet, all humans kind have such an identity if we look at the world there are many famous and popular political leaders as well as spiritual leaders who never lay down themselves, they are not humble, that’s why peter not allowed Jesus to wash his feet because Jesus is Lord and Master but Lord laid down himself and taught disciples about being servant and humble.

When I look at the life of Jesus, he was looking at nations coming through his death so that he endured a cup of suffering. Eventually, God the Father glorified him and gave him a name more than all names. So, to know the value of Joy and glorification, one should suffer, so I have to endure suffering because, basically, this world is not my permanent home. Suffering helps me to look forward to the Hope Jesus promised to us Christians. So I understood that I needed to look to Jesus, who endured such difficult suffering. Also, there is no resurrection without the cross.

Disciples call Jesus their teacher and Lord, right, but he washed their feet; of course, he is lord, but he washed their feet. It’s great humility for the lord, but he did it.Β  So when I walk this 40-day walk, I really want to embrace the great love of Jesus. And as I am teaching the word of God, I want to be humble as well as to teach others by serving.”
