The YEF Romania representative carried out an extensive evangelism mission across seven stations along Bucharest’s orange metro line. This dedicated effort marked the completion of the weekly 7-hour evangelism standard and yielded several meaningful encounters and four new contacts, each with different levels of interest in joining Bible study.
Among the first approached was Ștefana at Eroilor station. Initially hesitant, she became more engaged as the YEF member explained the spiritual need among today’s youth and shared her personal testimony. Ștefana noted that many young people might be curious about God but lack the courage to ask spiritual questions. Her response was thoughtful and open, showing a genuine interest in the message.
Also at Eroilor, the representative met Gaby, a friendly and curious first-year Law student. Gaby expressed interest in the Bible study and shared how she often engages in conversations with Theology students in her dorm. Since she didn’t have Instagram installed, she and the evangelist exchanged phone numbers. Despite her uncertain schedule, she welcomed a follow-up meeting, and a one-on-one Bible study was scheduled for Monday at 1 PM alongside another newcomer, Sara.
Throughout the day, the evangelist spoke with a variety of individuals, planting seeds of faith even when people were not immediately receptive. A student named Radu shared about previous experiences studying the Bible with a friend from an Orthodox youth group. The evangelist encouraged him to read Romans 1–8 and reflect on the Gospel personally. Another encounter involved a student from Mexico who identified as Catholic but admitted to not being religious; and a photo model who, while focused on her dog, still followed the YEF Romania Instagram page.
Heartfelt and challenging conversations also arose. One high school athlete, struggling with her faith after the death of her devout Christian mother, shared her doubts. The YEF member showed empathy and gently encouraged her to seek God through His Word. Another person was interested but burdened by work constraints, possibly due to involvement in a national security job. Despite limited time, the evangelist offered encouragement and a Gospel message.
In a surprise encounter, the representative met a French student who had been living in Romania for a year and spoke Romanian fluently. She expressed some interest and took a photo of the Bible study flyer for future reference.
As part of exploring new evangelism opportunities, the member visited Drumul Taberei Park for the first time and discovered picnic tables under a bridge — a potentially ideal location for outdoor group Bible studies. This has sparked ideas for future events, including a possible “Bible Study Trip” to the park with fellowship and time in the Word, or evangelizing during public events like flower festivals.
Later, in the metro system, the evangelist met Tony, an agnostic who appreciated the honest conversation and shared a testimony about his friend’s transformation from atheism to Christianity. Tony listened attentively as the Gospel was explained and even learned about a former atheist turned believer as a resource. Other encounters included Georgiana and Ciprian, both of whom followed the YEF Romania Instagram page and expressed varying levels of interest. Georgiana shared that her work schedule was uncertain, while Ciprian, though reserved, gave a definitive “yes” and followed up after the conversation.
The member reflected on the experience with humility and gratitude:
“Once again, I reminded myself of the attitude I must have before God when I go evangelize… I did not expect to find another person that would be genuinely interested and exchange phone numbers with me! Amen, praise God!
I felt a bit bad about how I handled the situation with the girl who lost her mother. I could have been more empathetic. But something beautiful happened as I reached Eroilor: the last guy I had talked to earlier — who took the same metro from Romancierilor — tapped me on the shoulder and asked to see the page again. That moment really touched me. He even stopped to take a photo of the train with his camera. Maybe photography is his hobby. Please keep praying for YEF Romania — that more people can be found and led to Christ, and that the devil would not be able to intervene!”
This session exemplifies the heart of YEF Romania’s mission — sharing the Gospel boldly, meeting people where they are, and planting seeds of faith wherever possible. Please continue to pray for the students who were contacted and for the growth of YEF’s ministry in Romania.
