Hearts Opened and Lives Transformed in Arizona Mission Field

On August 5th, the pioneers of Youth Evangelical Fellowship (YEF) Arizona, Hyewon and Lucy, pressed forward in the mission field with unwavering faith, holding an incredible 11 Bible studies in a single day. This day of ministry highlights the heart of YEF: to reach, teach, and raise up students with a deep love for God’s Word and a desire to walk in truth.

Hyewon met with several students throughout the day, continuing studies in the book of Romans. Trevor completed Romans 1 and received the Word with humility and openness, eager to grow in his knowledge of God. Nick completed Romans 6 and offered a powerful reflection, connecting passages across Scripture to better understand the Christian journey. He described how Romans 6 grounds us in our identity in Christ—dead to sin, alive in Him—while 1 Corinthians 9:27 reminds us to live with discipline, and John 15:5 anchors it all in our abiding relationship with Christ.

Genesis also studied Romans 6 and found newfound clarity about salvation after wrestling with misunderstanding. She shared openly about her past and expressed a desire to grow in her faith. Please pray that she may become a registered member and join the upcoming St. Louis retreat. Ivana returned to study after a brief illness and reflected on Romans 5, sharing how trials can build character and hope. She quoted 1 Peter 1:6–7 and 2 Corinthians 1:9, expressing how the Word taught her to rely on God, not herself.

Dayton finished Romans 2 and expressed interest in attending the retreat as well, while Hyewon also met Stuard for the first time. Though not yet a believer, Stuard listened to the gospel message with sincerity—an opportunity the pioneer cherished deeply.

Meanwhile, Lucy met with four returning students and welcomed one new participant. In her study with Manuel on Romans 2, he compared the spiritual condition of the Pharisees to how he sometimes memorizes formulas just to pass exams—without truly understanding them. He shared a desire to become a Christian transformed from the inside out.

Later, Aleeah, an online master’s student, began her journey in Romans 1. She opened up about struggles with sin and identity, and received the Word with a humble, seeking heart. Blessing continued with the second half of Romans 1 and reflected deeply on what it means to glorify God and live dependently on Him. She prayed that her heart would never grow proud or self-reliant, but always remain anchored in God’s will.

Jay, studying Romans 3, reflected on the fall of man and free will, realizing that no one is perfect—and that connecting with God comes through faith, not perfection. He expressed a growing desire to live with humility and grace toward others.

Lastly, Lucy met with Bronwen to complete Romans 1. Bronwen thoughtfully engaged with the text, took notes, and opened up about her battle with legalism. She shared that she’s learning to understand God’s grace beyond the pressure to perform or be perfect.

Each of these meetings is a living testimony to the mission and purpose of YEF—to meet students with the Word of God, to walk with them in truth, and to raise them up as disciples. These are not simply one-time conversations; they are moments of encounter that can transform lives forever.

As the week continues, YEF Arizona asks for your prayers. Pray for every student who has heard the Word—that they may feel the love of God personally and powerfully. Pray that the seeds sown would take root, and that many would rise up as faithful, fruitful followers of Christ.

Youth Evangelical Fellowship continues to invite students across the nation to study the Bible and discover a life shaped by faith, guided by Scripture, and grounded in the love of Jesus Christ. If you or someone you know is seeking truth, hope, or community, YEF is here to walk with you.
